Provide leadership and support to district’s Arts Education Department with researching, developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive, cutting-edge visual arts and media arts programs. The Coordinator will contribute to improving teaching quality to further student arts learning throughout the District. Candidate must be committed to continuous improvement with the fundamental goal of advancing student achievement in an urban public school district.
As we announced at the May 2017 concert, Music Director & Conductor John Wilcox will step down at the end of the 2017-18 season. He will go out with a bang on our 2018 Concert Tour of Central Europe which will surely be an unforgettable 12th and final season with TRYPO. And so while we celebrate this final season, we also begin the process of our search for a new Music Director who will “take the baton” with the 2018-19 season. While this individual will be a key TRYPO team member, this position is part time (mostly on Saturdays during the school year, with some additional office/prep and planning time during school year/summer).

Pittsburgh Cultural Trust Youth Advisory Board
Do you know a pre-teen who loves theater or the arts? Submit your recommendation so they can be part of the Youth Advisory Board for the EQT Bridge Theater Series, a division of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust! The EQT Bridge Theater Series was created to bring seriously adventurous theater to Pittsburgh for kids who feel they’ve outgrown the programming on our Citizens Bank Children’s Theater Series. The Youth Advisory Board will bring together 15-20 young people with wide-ranging backgrounds to give feedback about the shows on the EQT Bridge Theater Series. Youth board members will also share what types of relevant, exciting theater experiences they are looking for in the future.
All members of the Youth Advisory Board will receive two free tickets to each show on the 2017-2018 season of the EQT Bridge Theater Series. The Youth Advisory Board will meet three times per year in the Cultural District in the fall, winter, and spring. The first meeting is scheduled for Sunday, November 5th at 2:00pm. Meeting details will be confirmed with the selected members of the board.
Eligible students will be ages 7-13 and must have some interest in the arts. We are committed to building a diverse Youth Advisory Board and strongly encourage recommendations for minority candidates, individuals with disabilities, and candidates from other underrepresented groups. To recommend a pre-teen for this program, please complete this recommendation form by Friday, October 20th. You can also share this parent/guardian recommendation form with the student’s guardian to complete instead. In-school, educational performances of Western Pennsylvania’s heritage of traditional Scottish and Irish Bagpipe music and dance. DVDs and study guides are available to accompany this unique in-school experience.
Performances include introductions and stories by Piper George Balderose (Executive Director, Balmoral School of Piping and Drumming), piping by students of The Balmoral School of Piping and Drumming, and dancing by students of The Conroy-Burke School of Irish Dance and The Erskine School of Scottish Dance.

Educational Field Trip matinees are a great way to introduce middle and high school students to the magic of live theater. Matinees include curriculum guides and post-show discussions.
All performances will be held at The New Hazlett Theater Center for Performing Arts on Pittsburgh’s North Side (6 Allegheny Square East, Pittsburgh, 15212). Seats are $10 each, with one complimentary teacher/chaperon seat provided for every 20 student tickets purchased.
Performances run approximately two hours,15 minutes. Groups are encouraged (but not required) to stay for a short chat session after each performance. Student matinee performances begin at 10:00 a.m.

The Aaron Copland Fund for Music is accepting applications to the supplemental grant program. This program is designed to support nonprofit organizations that have a history of substantial commitment to contemporary American music but whose needs are not addressed by the fund’s programs of support for performing organizations and recording projects, such as presenters, festivals, and music service organizations (including education/residency, library/archive and radio/TV). Grants awarded may be for either general operating support or for special projects.
