Mission/Vision/Goals
Pittsburgh Irish and Classical Theatre was founded in 1996 to diversify
the region's theatrical offerings by providing audiences high-quality,
text-driven, affordable productions of classical theatre and the
works of classical and contemporary Irish playwrights. PICT's education
component offers special student matinee performances, in-school
programming exploring substantial classical texts, and, most important,
opportunities to respond in writing so as to further support the
Academic Standards of Pennsylvania. With both our matinee performances
and our in-school programming, we provide writing prompts which
adhere to the PSSA and SAT requirments. The student writing is assessed
by PICT's Education Director and then returned to students and teachers.
