PD and PLNs

Do you have a PLN? If so, what tools do you use to connect with your PLN? If not, what do you think of the possibilities of networking with others in this way?

I agree that the blended approach is probably the best way to reach all different kinds of learners in our teaching pool. I think the AEC's Leadership Academy is a great example of this approach. They meet face-to-face for 5 full days of intense PD and then interact throughout the school year virtually through technology and through face-to-face meetings with the 4 seminar days. I just wish school districts would allow us administrators to organize professional development in a similar way the AEC has organized the LA instead of encouraging the one day focus of PD on in-service days!

Mariann, what do you think about learning communities? When done well, they might provide the blend you're looking for that's similar to the Leadership Academy.
