-The Arts Education Collaborative was
established to respond strategically to regional needs and pursue
opportunities that provide sustainable solutions to advancing arts
education.
-The AEC evolved from
a 1998 regional Arts Education Congress in Pittsburgh, where concerned
arts and education constituents determined the need for a focused
effort in the region.
-Since that time, the AEC has established
rapport and collegiality with area
arts educators, cultural, performing and presenting arts organizations,
policy makers and advocates for the arts.
-The AEC supplies professional
development to arts educators and develops programs and services
that respond to assessed needs for providers of the arts.
-The AEC offers an intensive year-long professional development
opportunity called the Leadership
Academy. This opportunity provides participants with a close
network of peers that are devoted to becoming leaders in their schools
and commuities.
-These efforts, sustained
by wide regional support, guarantee the AEC continues to implement
its mission to foster student creativity and achievement in,
with and through the arts.
