LINDA
B. HIPPERT, Ph.D.
Dr.
Linda B. Hippert is currently the Superintendent of Schools in the
South Fayette Township School District , located fifteen miles southwest
of Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania and has served in that capacity since
1996. Previous to her appointment as a school superintendent, Dr.
Hippert served as a high school principal for five years and high
school mathematics teacher for fourteen years. She received her
Masters Degree in Curriculum and Supervision from the University
of Pittsburgh and Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics Education
from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Her doctorate degree is
from Duquesne University 's Interdisciplinary Doctoral Program for
Educational Leaders (IDPEL) where her dissertation focused in the
area of strategic planning. Dr. Hippert serves as an adjunct faculty
member in the School of Leadership and Professional Advancement
where she teaches the Leadership Capstone, culminating course in
the undergraduate program and the Masters in Leadership Colloquium.
Additionally she has taught Program Design in the Doctoral Program
in the School of Education at Duquesne University and Principles
of Organizational Leadership. Dr. Hippert is also an adjunct professor
in the School of Education at California University of Pennsylvania
and teaches online to students enrolled in the Letter of Eligibility
program.
Dr.
Hippert has served in leadership positions as a member of the Executive
Board of the Western Pennsylvania Supervision of Curriculum and
Development, Treasurer for Phi Delta Kappa Educational Fraternity,
Executive Board of the University of Pittsburgh Tri-State Study
Council, Indiana University of Pennsylvania Education Advisory Board,
Duquesne University Leadership Advisory Board, President of the
South Hills Area School District Association Superintendents and
is a member of the Western Pennsylvania Forum for School Superintendents,
Secretary of the Board of the Southwest Pennsylvania Business Education
Foundation and member of the California University of Pennsylvania
Education Advisory Board and Board Member for APEX, the Agenda for
Promoting Excellence in Education through teacher leadership.
Accomplishments
include receipt of the American Association of School Administrators
' AASA's Finis Engleman Award, the Pennsylvania School Public Relations
Communications Award and was voted the faculty recipient of the
Excellence in Leadership Award by the Adult Student Association
in the School of Leadership and Professional Advancement at Duquesne
University . In November, 2005, Dr. Hippert was invited to address
the Allegheny Conference on Regional Development to highlight the
accomplishments of the South Fayette District in student achievement
with the 2004-05 fifth graders being ranked 1 st in the Commonwealth
of Pennsylvania in Math and 3 rd in Reading proficiency. South Fayette
has been nominated to receive the 2005 NCLB Blue Ribbon Award.
Dr.
Hippert believes that educators have the tremendous responsibility
of effecting change to make the world a better place for the children
of today and tomorrow. By virtue of the acceptance of her leadership
position, she is committed to this challenge and encourages all
to remember Margaret Mead's quote that says “Never doubt that a
small group of committed individuals can change the world, nothing
else ever has.”
