BILLY
HARTUNG
Billy Hartung is a Pittsburgh native who has appeared on Broadway,
off-Broadway, in films, television and in regional theatres throughout
the country. Billy can currently be seen singing and dancing
in the movie musical "CHICAGO" (Miramax). He is
thrilled to have been invited to perform at the 75th Annual Academy
Awards (ABC) and The 25th Anniversary of the Kennedy Center Honors
(CBS) where he danced in a tribute to Chita Rivera. Selected
as an "upNcomer" by Intheatre Magazine, he is proud to
have been featured in the "Original Casts" of three Broadway
shows. The critically acclaimed Side Show, the hit
musical Footloose and he was one of five featured artists
in Liza Minnelli's heartfelt tribute Minnelli on Minnelli: at
The Palace Theatre. Other highlights include productions
with Pittsburgh City Theatre, Pittsburgh Public Theatre, Pittsburgh
CLO, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, New York City Centers ENCORES!,
The Paper Mill Playhouse, The Goodspeed Opera House, The Kennedy
Center for Performing Arts, The Manhattan Theatre Club, The Arizona
Theatre Company and Lucille Lortels' White Barn Theatre. Favorite
roles include: the revival of Stephen Sondhiem's Follies
(Young Buddy), West Side Story (Riff), The Fantasticks
(Matt), Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (Frank), and Annie
(Rooster). Billy can be heard singing on the Original cast
albums of Side Show, Footloose, Minnelli on
Minnelli: Live at the Palace, Stephen Sondhiems' Follies
- the complete recording and Chicago - The Motion Picture
Soundtrack. Other film credits include: Striking Distance
(Columbia Pictures), Guilty Until Proven Innocent (Movie of the
Week) and an Award winning Independant film called "PG."
His favorite Leading Lady: his wife Sharon and his Favorite Role:
Being a Daddy.
Billy is currently on the Performing Arts Faculties at The Pittsburgh
High School for the Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA), The Pennsylvania
Governors School for the Arts, Dance Workshop By Shari. He
graduated with honors from the BFA program at Point Park University
and is currently an active member of the Screen Actors Guild, Actors
Equity Association, the American, the American Federation of Television
and Radio Artists and the American Guild of Variety Artists.
Billy also teaches seminars and workshops about the realistic journey
a young performer takes in a career in the performing arts.
